DecoPulse privacy policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
The short version
- You can use DecoPulse without an account, and without giving us your name or email.
- We note each like and pass against the item, with the hour it happened and nothing about who made it. You can switch that off.
- We only keep a history of your swipes if you say yes. It is kept under a random ID, never your name. You can change your mind at any time.
- If you make an account, we keep your email address and your saved items so they are backed up.
- We do not show adverts, sell your information, or follow you around other apps and websites.
- You can delete your swipe history, or your whole account, from inside the app.
- If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before agreeing to anything in the app.
Who is responsible
DecoPulse is responsible for the information described here. In data protection law that makes it the “data controller”: it decides what the app records and is answerable for it.
For any question about this policy or your information, email privacy@deco-pulse.com.
What we record, and why
It depends on how you use the app and on what you agree to. There are three things, and each is separate.
1. What gets liked, without you attached: on, unless you switch it off
When you swipe, the app keeps a count for that item: liked, passed, or taken back. From time to time it sends those counts to us, and we keep one line for each swipe. Each line holds:
- the item: its web address, category, price and the shop selling it;
- whether it was liked, passed on, or taken back;
- the day and the hour. Not the minute, and not the order you swiped in;
- whether an account was signed in. Only that one was, never which one.
These lines carry no ID of any kind, and nothing that ties one of your swipes to another. They tell us which items and shops people respond to, and at what time of day. They do not say that a swipe was yours.
You can switch this off in the app: Profile → Privacy → Usage statistics.
2. Your own swipe history: off, unless you say yes
The first time you open DecoPulse it asks whether it may keep a history of what you like and pass on. If you say no, it doesn’t. If you say yes, each swipe is recorded with:
- the item: its web address, category, price and the shop selling it;
- whether you liked it, passed on it, or took the swipe back;
- the date and time;
- a random ID, so that your swipes can be kept together.
That ID is not your name, your email address or your phone’s own identifier. If you have no account, it is a random number the app makes up and keeps on your phone; deleting the app discards it. If you are signed in, it is a random number made on our server for your account.
We use this history to understand what people like and to improve what the app shows you. Nobody is named in it, but because it ties one person’s swipes together it still counts as personal information, and we treat it that way.
One thing to be straightforward about: we never store a link between the ID you had before making an account and the ID your account has, and we do not look for one. But because times are recorded, swipes made just before and just after creating an account could be recognised as coming from the same phone.
You can stop this at any time in Profile → Privacy → Personal swipe history, and you can erase what has been kept with Delete My Usage Data on the same screen.
3. Your account, if you make one
An account is optional. Everything in the app works without one. If you create an account we keep:
- your email address and your password. The password is stored in a scrambled form that we cannot read;
- the items you have saved and your filter settings, so they are backed up and appear on your other devices.
We use your email address to run your account: signing you in, confirming the address is yours, and resetting your password if you ask. We do not send marketing emails.
Without an account, your saved items and filters stay on your phone and are not sent to us.
What we do not collect
Your name, date of birth, location, contacts, photos, or your phone’s advertising identifier. There are no adverts in DecoPulse and no advertising or tracking software from other companies.
The rules we rely on
| What | Why the law allows it | Your control |
|---|---|---|
| What gets liked, without you attached | Our legitimate interest in improving the app, using records that carry nothing to say whose they are | Switch it off in Privacy |
| Your own swipe history | Your consent | Say no, switch it off later, or delete it |
| Your account, saved items and filters | It is needed to give you the account you asked for | Delete the account |
Where it is kept, and who else is involved
We use Google’s cloud services (Firebase and Google Cloud) to store and process this information on our behalf. Google acts on our instructions and may not use the information for its own purposes.
- Saved items, filters and everything recorded about swipes are kept in Google’s data centre in London.
- Sign-in details (your email address, scrambled password, and a short-lived log of sign-ins including the internet address used) are handled by Google’s sign-in service, which operates in the United States. That transfer is covered by the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the UK government has approved for this purpose.
Two other things happen simply because the app shows products from shops:
- The list of products is downloaded from a page hosted by GitHub, and product photos are loaded directly from the shops’ own servers. As with any web page, those servers see the internet address your phone is using. We do not send them anything else about you.
- If you tap Visit Website, you leave DecoPulse for the shop’s own site, and its privacy policy applies there.
If you have agreed in your iPhone’s settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us general statistics about crashes and usage. They do not identify you.
We do not sell your information or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your own swipe history | Up to two years from each swipe, then deleted automatically. Sooner if you delete it or your account. |
| Counts sent from your phone | Until the next night, when they are turned into the lines described above and deleted |
| Swipes recorded without you attached | Up to two years from each swipe, then deleted automatically |
| Your account, saved items and filters | Until you delete your account |
| Google’s log of sign-ins | A few weeks |
When something is deleted it disappears from our systems within a day. Copies in Google’s backups are removed on Google’s own schedule, which can take up to 180 days.
Your choices in the app
- Stop swipes being recorded at all: Profile → Privacy → Usage statistics (with Personal swipe history also off).
- Stop your swipe history being kept: Profile → Privacy → Personal swipe history.
- Erase the swipe history already kept: Profile → Privacy → Delete My Usage Data. Your saved items and your account are not affected. It is carried out within a day.
- Delete your account and everything stored with it, including your swipe history: Profile → Delete Account.
If you use the app without an account, the Delete My Usage Data button is the way to have your history erased. We cannot find it for you by email, because we do not know which random ID is yours. That is the point of it.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it erased;
- object to how we use it, or ask us to limit that;
- receive it in a form you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these, email privacy@deco-pulse.com. We will reply within one month and there is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Children and young people
DecoPulse has no minimum age and does not ask how old you are. It is designed so that the most private settings are the ones you start with: no history of your swipes is kept unless someone agrees to it.
If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to decide for you before agreeing to a swipe history or creating an account.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has agreed to something without you, you can erase the history from the Privacy screen in the app, or write to privacy@deco-pulse.com and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app records or how we use it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change affects something you were asked to agree to, the app will ask you again before the change applies to you.
